A request to design window treatments developed into a larger project helping clients re-envision the interiors of their grand Colts Neck, New Jersey home to match their traditional aesthetic. In the great room, the scale and graceful symmetry of the custom-designed walnut unit balance the grandeur of the 22’ ceilings and the proportions of the 86” flat screen television. Walnut burls in the bespoke mantel echo the use of these beautiful natural wood patterns in the built-in wall unit. The colors chosen for the stone fireplace complement the gold damask grasscloth, which was hand-blocked in Hoboken, New Jersey. (“I love using local artisans when possible. Handcrafted products can add incredible character and depth to a room and finding local talent is always a bonus.”)
In the master bedroom, an elegant coffered ceiling, a custom mantel and mosaic tile surround as well as soothing colors on the walls and ceiling transform the once cavernous space into a personal sanctuary. In each room, a skillful use of custom millwork and an abundance of carefully selected luxurious fabrics and wall coverings create the opulent combination of intimacy and formality that the client wanted.
