A New Jersey couple embraced a new phase of life with the stunning transformation of their Deal, New Jersey home into a sophisticated bespoke contemporary. A low-slung cappuccino colored sectional, upholstered in woven Romo fabric, sits atop a brown and cream geometric-patterned silk and wool carpet. Like everything else in the living room, these pieces were custom-designed by Shannon. (“I use artisans in Nepal who hand weave rugs with my designs and keep me updated on their progress with photos. Seeing a design come to life deepens my clients’ appreciation of the process and artistry involved.”) The room features a dynamic combination of lavish materials and textures. The walnut-edged coffee table is covered in a crocodile-patterned burnished silver metallic paper while the ottoman is finished with lush woven velvet contrasted with a bold nailhead design. Twin carmine red chairs made of “shagreen” or naturally textured stingray leather, sit by a large window where the sunlight can capture the singular beauty of this durable material. Glossy cream-colored lacquer and walnut built-ins were designed to maximize storage. Shannon even incorporated the office door into the design of the cabinetry to streamline the look in keeping with the clients desire to minimize fuss in their newly designed empty nest.
